Stephen Knapp, also known by his initiated name Sri Nandanandana Dasa, is a distinguished author, Vedic scholar, and lifelong practitioner of Sanātana Dharma. He is the Founding President and Co-Chairman of the Vedic Friends Association (VFA) and has dedicated over four decades to preserving and promoting the Vedic tradition on a global scale.

In January 2025, Stephen was honored with the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian awards, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Vedic literature and education. This rare honor affirms the significance of his life’s mission to bridge Eastern wisdom and Western understanding.

Stephen has authored over 50 books that explore the depth and richness of India’s spiritual heritage, including The Secret Teachings of the Vedas, Proof of Vedic Culture’s Global Influence, The Heart of Hinduism, and Crimes Against India and the Need to Protect Its Ancient Vedic Tradition. His work is widely respected for its clarity, research-based approach, and deep reverence for the Sanskrit shāstras.

As a direct disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Stephen combines devotional insight with scholarly rigor. His writings have served as an entry point for countless seekers, educators, and practitioners wishing to understand the authentic roots of Hinduism and Sanātana Dharma.
